If you are comparing marriage celebrants in Sydney, you will find prices all over the place. That is because you are not buying a standard product. You are buying somebody’s time, writing, legal responsibility, planning support, equipment, travel and ability to stand in front of your favourite people without making the whole thing weird.
There is no regulated standard fee for a civil marriage celebrant. Each celebrant sets their own pricing based on the service they provide, their experience, the time involved and the location of the wedding.
My full Sydney marriage celebrant service is $1,500. That is the useful number if you are comparing my service with another celebrant, but the more important question is what is included for that figure.
You can read the full service details on my Marriage Celebrant Sydney page.
Some services are designed to be extremely simple. Others involve several meetings, detailed interviews, a fully written ceremony, vow editing, rehearsals, travel and substantial planning.
Experience also matters. Writing the ceremony is only part of the job. A celebrant needs to manage the legal requirements correctly, work with other suppliers, use the microphone properly, read the room and stay calm when the ceremony starts ten minutes late because somebody has lost a button.
If you do not want the full personalised ceremony, I also offer simple legal wedding ceremonies from $1,000, generally for short, straightforward ceremonies with minimal customisation.
They suit couples who primarily want the legal marriage completed without building a larger ceremony around it.
Sydney metro travel is included in my standard celebrant fee. Regional weddings are quoted according to location and timing. Hunter Valley and other regional bookings will often involve an additional travel allowance.
Price matters. It is a wedding budget, not Monopoly money. But the cheapest quote is not automatically the best value, and the most expensive celebrant is not automatically the best fit.
Compare what is actually included, then have a conversation. You should know whether the person understands the tone you want and whether you feel comfortable handing them the microphone for one of the more important parts of the day.
Yes. I offer a combined Celebrant + MC package for $2,700, which is a $300 saving compared with booking my two services separately.
For plenty of couples, having one familiar person across the ceremony and reception also makes the day simpler to plan.
Send me your wedding date, venue and what you are considering. I will tell you what makes sense for the day and give you a clear figure before you book. Check your date here.
